Get to know the broad range of music in our dance and theatre programmes, from classical piano and haunting strings to cosmic pop and moody electronica.

This week we're spotlighting some of the music in the dance and theatre programmes, featuring a wonderfully diverse range of artists and genres.

Timeless classics like Schubert, Ravel, Gorecki, David Bowie, Janis Joplin, and Nina Simone all provide part of the soundtrack in Cold Blood's dance for hands, while the family show Hocus Pocus is set to a musical score based around Grieg’s evocative Peer Gynt suites.

Akram Khan's international creative team includes the visceral composer Vincenzo Lamagna, whose score will be played live in XENOS. Autobiography also features an original composition by Jlin, who produces deeply introspective footwork.

The theatre piece HOME is accompanied live by the poetic folk/Americana songwriter Elvis Perkins, whilst co-founder of Scottish indie outfit Ballboy Gordon McIntyre was one of the minds that dreamt up the contemporary romance Midsummer.
