Playlist curated by Camilla George, saxophonist and composer

Camilla George is a Nigerian-born British musician known for blending jazz, Afrofuturism and African musical traditions. Through acclaimed albums including Isang, The People Could Fly and Ibio Ibio, George explores themes of identity, heritage and community, drawing inspiration from her Nigerian roots.

Spanning generations of musicians, Camilla’s playlist moves effortlessly between jazz legends and contemporary innovators. From John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and Sonny Rollins to Robert Glasper, Kokoroko, Yussef Kamaal and Immanuel Wilkins, it's a collection rooted in tradition while having a finger firmly on the pulse of today.

The selections reveal a love of groove, improvisation and musical storytelling. Tracks such as Fela Kuti's Water No Get Enemy, Kokoroko's Abusey Junction and Robert Glasper and Erykah Badu's Afro Blue sit alongside spiritual jazz classics and modern London jazz favourites, reflecting the rich mix of influences that can be heard throughout Camilla's own music.

Born in Nigeria and raised in West London, Camilla is celebrated for bringing together African and Western musical traditions. Her latest album, Ibio-Ibio, explores the music and culture of the Ibibio people of southern Nigeria, continuing a body of work that connects heritage, identity and contemporary jazz.

This playlist is an invitation into Camilla's musical world: a journey through the artists, sounds and ideas that continue to inspire her.
