Be the face of the International Festival’s behind-the-scenes content

News

Every year the Edinburgh International Festival presents a curated programme featuring the finest performers and ensembles from the worlds of dance, opera, music and theatre as Scotland’s capital hosts an unparalleled celebration of the performing arts and becomes an annual meeting point for people of all nations.

We’re looking for a paid, in-house presenter to be the face of the International Festival’s behind-the-scenes content and front our Instagram stories throughout August. The chosen presenter will work throughout the Festival to research and capture in-the-moment content, off-the-cuff artist interviews and the buzz of the Festival and city. If you have a knowledge of classical music as well as a passion for the arts generally, and think you’ve got what it takes, then read on for further instructions on how to apply.

You’ll need to feel comfortable on camera talking to high-profile artists so we’re looking for entrants to send a video demonstrating how you would present. If you haven’t presented before don’t panic! No technical skills are required, and you can record yourself on a video camera or phone. Please create a video no longer than two minutes highlighting your presenting skills and describing why you think you’d be suitable. Feel free to also send us any other previous examples of your work if you have them.

How to apply?

Please email contact@eif.co.uk using the subject line ‘Application: 2020 Presenter’ with your CV, contact details and a link to view your video as an unlisted video on YouTube or Vimeo, or as a link to download the file from WeTransfer or Dropbox. The application closing date is 5pm on Monday 17 February 2020

The shortlist and final selection will be based on the following criteria:
- Suitability of presenting style for the International Festival brand and our Instagram audience
- Ability to present on camera
- How you react in the moment
- How entertaining and engaging you are on screen
- How well your passion and knowledge of classical music and the arts comes across

If you’re shortlisted, you’ll hear from us by Friday 21 February and you’ll need to be available on Wednesday 4 March for a screen test at International Festival HQ in Edinburgh. The selected presenter must also be available for the Festival’s launch on Wednesday 18 March, as well as for the duration of the Festival from 1–31 August. Please note that some of these dates may be subject to change.

The content will initially be hosted on the International Festival’s Instagram stories however, broadcast on other platforms is possible (ie Instagram grid, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, TV and in-venue screens).
