2019 Playlist #01

Our weekly playlist is back! Press play to explore the 2019 International Festival programme through music and get a taste of what you'll hear in concert halls and venues across the city this August.

In our first playlist of the year, we are showcasing the wide scope of music you'll hear during the International Festival this August: from Gustavo Dudamel leading his orchestra at the Aberdeen Standard Investments Opening Event: LA Phil at Tynecastle for music from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, to the Polonaise from Tchaikovsky's best-loved opera Eugene Onegin. We've also got a taste from West Side Story, an extract from Stravinsky's Rite of Spring which can be heard in choreographer Yang Liping's reinterpretation this August, as well as Sir James MacMillan's Quickening and some contemporary music sounds from Teenage Fanclub, Kate Tempest and more.

Each week we'll be exploring the programme from a different angle, so stay tuned!
