This week's playlist dives into the music and composers within You Are Here, a season of performances, conversations, readings and fresh thinking.
Edinburgh in August is home to some of the world’s most creative thinkers. You Are Here aims to harness this resource to offer impactful responses to issues from politics and gender to environmentalism and faith through the eyes of 265 passionate artists and thinkers from Mali, Greenland, Lebanon, Scotland, the UK and beyond.
Through more than 80 events, the programme sees performances across theatre, dance and music, featuring artists from around the world as well as a series of readings, discussions, community projects and professional development opportunities. The series aims to offer fresh thinking on class, gender, human rights, racism and climate crisis, probing the status quo and offering future paths. Catch performances by spoken word artist Kate Tempest, Scottish Celtic fusion band Shooglenifty, a dance prayer for the people of Belfast with music from DJ David Holmes, plus much more at the International Festival this August, and listen to the work from composers within the You Are Here programme in the playlist above.
