The second of two specially curated lineups see much loved local arts collective Neu! Reekie! assemble some mighty cult icons for one glorious evening.

Formed in 1986, indie rock duo The Vaselines, who famously influenced Kurt Cobain and Nirvana, broke up shortly after, only to make a very welcome comeback in the last decade with two new albums.

The Pastels played a crucial part in defining the C86 sound of jangly guitars and melodic power pop, helping spawn a DIY indie movement while putting Glasgow on the map with their gentle jams and shimmery pop-punk.

Born in Jamaica and raised in Brixton, pioneering spoken word artist and dub poet Linton Kwesi Johnson writes, often in Jamaican patois, about his experiences as a black African-Caribbean living in the UK. A former writer for NME in the 1970s, Linton runs a reggae record label and last year was one of the headliners at Neu! Reekie!’s counter cultural festival in Hull in June, alongside Young Fathers and Charlotte Church.

Swedish-born Berlin-based Molly Nilsson brings a "DIY til I die" aesthetic to her poetic synthpop, eschewing external influences and collaborations in favour of writing and producing music from her bedroom studio and publishing releases from her own label Dark Skies Association.
