The Glass Menagerie

Tennessee Williams / American Repertory Theater / John Tiffany

Straight from co-creating Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in the West End, director John Tiffany revives his Broadway triumph The Glass Menagerie.

Working again with movement director Steven Hoggett, with whom he made the National Theatre of Scotland’s internationally celebrated Black Watch, John Tiffany directs a stellar cast.

Cherry Jones, acclaimed as President Taylor in 24 and for performances in films including Ocean’s Twelve, The Perfect Storm and Signs, stars as matriarch Amanda Wingfield. She’s joined by Michael Esper, recently nominated for a 2016 Outer Critics Circle Award for his appearance in David Bowie and Enda Walsh’s musical Lazarus in New York. Award-winning British actor Kate O’Flynn and Broadway actor Seth Numrich complete the company.

This is an unforgettable production of Tennessee Williams’s heart-rending masterpiece of a family struggling to survive on hopes and dreams.

A domineering mother. A daughter lost in a world of her own. A son determined to leave.

Desperate to find a husband for her fragile daughter Laura, Amanda Wingfield enlists her son Tom’s help. But will the long-awaited ‘gentleman caller’ fulfil or shatter the family’s delicate dreams?

A smash hit on Broadway, this Tony-nominated production of Williams’s heartbreaking drama has its European premiere at the International Festival.
