Terms and Conditions – Membership

Edinburgh International Festival reserves the right to change the benefits, fees, and terms and conditions that apply to membership at any time.

Membership Benefits

During the priority booking period, all members can access up to four tickets per International Festival event before booking opens to the public. Tickets are subject to availability; priority booking for members does not guarantee tickets to an event. Edinburgh International Festival reserves the right to change or limit the amount of tickets available for purchase during the priority booking period for specific events where necessary.

All members can access up to two tickets per International Festival member event. Tickets for member events are subject to availability and may incur an additional cost; a membership does not guarantee tickets to a member event.

Edinburgh International Festival tickets sold both during and after the priority booking period are subject to booking terms and conditions. Ambassador Circle members (Ambassador, Silver Ambassador and Gold Ambassador) will not be charged the £1.50 fee per ticket exchanged.

For member events with specific membership level access criteria (ie: the Opening Toast event for Ambassador, Silver Ambassador and Gold Ambassador), members will receive an invitation by email with a link to RSVP. Each invitation is valid for the named member plus one guest, unless otherwise specified. A positive RSVP must be provided by the deadline in the invitation for you to access the event. For members without email addresses, an invitation will be sent by post, with options to RSVP by post or by phone.

Each interval lounge pass admits one person to one lounge and is subject to capacity; we advise pre-booking your lounge attendance to ensure access.

No refund, exchange or cash alternative is available in place of any Edinburgh International Festival membership benefits.

Membership Fees & Payment

All membership fees quoted on this page are effective from 1 November 2023 and are valid for new members joining from this date onwards. All membership prices include VAT at 20%.

Membership is valid for one year (365 days) from the date of first payment. Membership is available on an annual basis only and, therefore, the cancellation of a monthly Direct Debit instruction prior to the fulfilment of the full annual cost of membership may result in the cancellation of any tickets purchased during the priority booking period. Applications to pay for International Festival membership by Direct Debit will not be accepted between 1 March– 8 April.

Gift membership vouchers are non-transferable and can be activated within 2 years (730 days) of the date of issue. Once activated, gift memberships are valid for one year (365 days).

Matched Funding & Membership

All new membership purchases and membership level upgrades during 22 January - 23 February 2024 will unlock an additional donation of the same value as the membership purchase or upgrade amount; eg: a new Friend membership purchased for £60 will unlock an additional donation of £60 for the 2024 Edinburgh International Festival. Matched funding for this campaign is provided by an anonymous donor.

The additional donations unlocked will be used to support the 2024 Edinburgh International Festival and do not provide any additional membership benefits or upgrades. The total amount of matched funding available is £25,000. Once this amount has been reached, new membership purchases and membership level upgrades will no longer be matched. Upgraded memberships will retain the existing expiry date of the original membership.
