Welcome to Edinburgh International Festival's Opening Fanfare in Princes Street Gardens

We're delighted you’re here with us. We’ve assembled over 500 young and professional musicians from across Scotland for an energetic weekend of music making! Here’s what you’ve got to look forward to…

Sun 6 Aug, GRIT in the Gardens

On the second day of the celebrations, you can soak up the sounds of the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland and the National Youth Brass Bands of Scotland on our satellite stages from 2pm. These performances are unticketed, just stroll through the gardens and enjoy the music.

The weekend culminates in a set from the thrilling GRIT Orchestra and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland at the Ross Bandstand at 3pm – 4.30pm. Seated tickets for this performance have all been booked, but there is plenty of space to experience the performance from the rest of Princes Street Gardens.
