Supporter Event: Bluebeard’s Castle Backstage Tour
An exclusive event for members and supporters of Edinburgh International Festival. Join us backstage to learn about the vital role played by seemingly simple props and set dressing in this poignant retelling of Bartók’s opera.
Discover how director Daisy Evans has reimagined one of opera’s great masterpieces, moving it from a dark dungeon to a happy home. Bluebeard and Judith face the reality of living with dementia while celebrating their long love and shared memories. With a newly commissioned libretto, this Bluebeard's Castle is a departure from the story you know.
Due to lack of level access backstage at the Church Hill Theatre, this event is inaccessible for wheelchair users or people with other mobility requirements.
This backstage tour will be led by Neil Mickel, Head of Production.
