The LA Phil brought a uniquely authentic gleam and glamour to the grandeur of Hollywood film scores in this year’s Opening Event, featuring classic movie music from the Golden Age of Hollywood and a selection from the best-loved film composer on the planet: John Williams. In this epic family friendly concert, Gustavo Dudamel and his orchestra take over Tynecastle Park stadium for music from Jaws, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, E.T. and many more.

Heart of Hollywood

In celebration of the 2019 Aberdeen Standard Investments Opening Event: LA Phil at Tynecastle, the International Festival worked with local schools around Tynecastle Park to present a workshop that explored orchestras and the work of the LA Phil, film scores and their importance to cinema, and a celebration of Hollywood, all culminating in each pupil creating their own star for a Walk of Fame which was displayed in the stadium during the concert.
