Your membership will be activated immediately as soon as you purchase it. You will have instant access to priority booking and member event booking when available for your membership level.

You will receive a confirmation email shortly after your membership purchase, and your posted membership welcome pack will be posted to you within ten working days.

Donations

You can add a donation when purchasing membership; a prompt will appear during the checkout process.

Gift Aid

You can Gift Aid your membership if you are a UK taxpayer who is eligible for Gift Aid. You can apply Gift Aid when purchasing membership; a prompt will appear during the checkout process. For details about Gift Aid eligibility, see gov.uk/donating-to-charity/gift-aid

International Members

Our membership community is made up of individuals from all across the world, and everyone is welcome to join. We try to spread member events across the whole of August, so whether you’re in Edinburgh for a few days or the full month, there will be an opportunity for you to meet fellow members and make use of your membership benefits. For speedier communication, we recommend providing your email address when you join as a member.

Accessing Priority Booking

Log in to your account with the same email address you used to purchase your membership and then you will be able to access priority booking.

Cancelling Membership

Membership is valid for one year (365 days) from the date of purchase, and is non-refundable. If you wish to remove your details from our membership contact list, or cancel your Direct Debit payment plan, please get in touch with the Membership team at [email protected] or +44(0)131 473 2065.

Changes to Membership from 1 November 2023

We launched two new Membership Circles that replaced our previous membership levels: our Friend Circle comprises Friend, Silver Friend and Gold Friend membership levels, and our Ambassador Circle comprises Ambassador, Silver Ambassador and Gold Ambassador membership levels. Details of the fees and benefits for each level can be found at eif.co.uk/membership.

Changes to Current Memberships

All current members have been automatically moved to the new membership structure. Current Friend members become new Friend members; current Friend Plus members become new Silver Friend members; current Patron members become new Gold Friend members; new Ambassador members become Gold Ambassador members.
