London jazz quartet Sons of Kemet blazed onto the music scene with their debut album Burn in 2013, fusing elements of Afro-Caribbean music with political commentary in a defiant, energetic blur. Led by saxophonist and clarinetist Shabaka Hutchings, the original lineup has changed and three more albums have followed, but the intentions remain the same; to challenge the racism and injustice that currently exist in the UK. They do all of this while creating urgent, irresistible rhythms with their cocktail of saxophone, tuba and two drummers. A body-shaking, unstoppable dance music of resistance.
