An Afternoon with Matthew Herbert at The Hub
Join composer, DJ and producer Matthew Herbert for a discussion on his approach to musical innovation.
Matthew Herbert's career has pushed the boundaries for innovation and experimentation in music and sound for decades. His latest album, The Horse, is no exception – building on Herbert’s love for found sounds, the album uncovers the untapped musical potential of a horse skeleton.
For Herbert, any concept can be turned into a composition, from wartime destruction to apple consumption. His work has been commissioned by Tate Modern, the Royal Opera House and Manchester International Festival. His music constantly inspires audiences to reassess their relationship to sound.
On the night before the album’s live premiere, join the artist as he shares the fascinating story behind this daring work.
This event will be chaired by TV and radio presenter Gemma Cairney.
