Bartók Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion
Bristling with energy yet capable of enormous subtlety and a strong emotional charge in his playing, Currie is one of esteemed composer Steve Reich’s most admired performers, and heads the Scottish premiere of Reich’s graceful Quartet for Two Vibraphones and Two Pianos, first performed in 2014.
The foursome completes the programme with the bracing viruosity of Bartók’s pioneering Sonata, Norwegian composer Rolf Wallin’s Márquez-inspired Realismos mágicos, and the radiant repetitions of John Adams’s glistening, two-piano Hallelujah Junction.
This concert will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3
