Ricercar Consort
The Belgian-based Ricercar Consort makes a welcome return to the Festival under director Philippe Pierlot following two thrilling performances of English music in Festival 2012.
The Ricercar Consort performs imposing choral and instrumental music from the early German Baroque by Scheidt, Schütz and Schein, composers who struggled to continue their creative work during the Thirty Years War, contrasting moving funeral odes with evocative dance music.
