Every year some of the world’s finest musicians, orchestras and ensembles come to perform in Edinburgh at the International Festival. With the Young Musician’s Pass you can see them for free!

From world-class orchestras at Usher Hall, to breathtaking soloists, singers and instrumentalists at The Hub and The Queen’s Hall, our music programme has something to inspire all young, passionate musicians. Each year we give away hundreds of free tickets to young Scottish musicians and singers, so you can experience the best music from around the world right here in Scotland.

What’s the deal?

Young Musician’s Pass (YMP) members are eligible for:

  • Three pairs of free tickets – one pair of tickets for a concert at Usher Hall, one pair of tickets for a concert at The Queen's Hall and one pair of tickets for a concert at The Hub, subject to availability.
  • Exclusive opportunities to get closer to artists, invites to rehearsals and Q&As


To be eligible you must:

  • Be aged between 8–18 during the Festival period (2–25 August)
  • Live in Scotland
  • Play a musical instrument or sing

How to book

Once you become a member, you can book free tickets from midday on Monday25 March 2024 until Monday 17 June 2024. Detailed information on how to book can be found below.

Terms and Conditions

To be eligible, the participant must be between 8 and 18 years old on 25 August 2024, live in Scotland and play an instrument or sing.

Members are eligible to up to a total of six free tickets each:

  • one pair of tickets for a concert at The Hub,
  • one pair of tickets for a morning concert at The Queen’s Hall,
  • one pair of tickets for a concert at Usher Hall.

This scheme excludes Up Lates, any concerts that start from 10pm, The Alehouse Sessions and Scott Silven: Wonders.

The free tickets must be used by the YMP member and one guest and cannot be transferred to another individual. The Edinburgh International Festival is not liable for supervising children. Please ensure that the guest is an appropriate person to attend with the member.

Members can book free tickets from midday Monday 25 March until Monday 17 June.

In order to guarantee access to tickets at midday on Monday 25 March, members must be signed up by midday on Thursday 21 March. The sign up period will end on the 12 June or when tickets are no longer available, whichever is earlier. The booking process will close prior to 17 June if the tickets are no longer available.

Offer is first come, first served, subject to availability and available in specific price bands. It cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers or discounts. If members can no longer use their tickets, please let us know so we can make them available to other members.

If you are completing this form on behalf of more than one young musician, please use a different email address for each membership. Each account must be unique to allow you to book free tickets online.

The International Festival reserves the right to review, amend or withdraw this scheme without prior notice. This scheme is monitored and customers who intentionally breach the terms and conditions will be removed from the scheme.

Edinburgh International Festival Society will hold your details on a customer database to facilitate future bookings. Your personal data will be processed in accordance with the Edinburgh International Festival Privacy Policy.
