Virgin Money Fireworks Concert

Monday 27 August 2018

In partnership with the City of Edinburgh, the Virgin Money Fireworks Concert brings the Edinburgh International Festival and Edinburgh's summer festival season to a resplendent conclusion.

Set against the iconic backdrop of Edinburgh’s historic Castle, this event brings together stirring orchestral music from the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and magnificent pyrotechnics, specially choreographed by international fireworks artists, Pyrovision. Last year, a quarter of a million people gathered across the city and beyond to share in this annual grand festival season finale. To get a better idea just how spectacular this event is, take a look at our blog about Virgin Money Fireworks Concert in numbers.

BOOK NOW should be on everyone's to-do list.

Scottish Chamber Orchestra

Clark Rundell Conductor

Bernstein Selection
Holst The Planets: Mars, Saturn, Uranus, Venus, Jupiter

Before the fireworks light up Edinburgh's sky, Clark Rundell leads the Scottish Chamber Orchestra in bringing our Bernstein celebrations to an epic close. After a month of marking the centenary year of the composer's birth, we will hear some of his most flamboyant music with some special guest artists joining the orchestra onstage.

Following the interval, we are treated to a mind-expanding journey into deepest space with Holst's The Planets. The swells of the music are complemented by our spectacular fireworks display, one of the largest in the world, which international fireworks artists Pyrovision have choreographed to complement your musical experience.
