Frequently Asked Questions

When is the concert?

In 2018, the concert took place on Monday 27 August at 9.00pm.

Do I need a ticket for the event?

Yes, tickets are required to enter the Princes Street Gardens.

You can book tickets for the seated ticket area at the Ross Theatre (inside Princes Street Gardens) at £34, and a non-seated ticket area in Princes Street Gardens at £15.50. You can also get a Priority Entry ticket at £20 to secure the best spot in the Gardens.

What does a Priority Entry ticket get me?

A limited number of Priority Entry tickets are available and will allow you to gain early access to the Gardens - 45 minutes ahead of the gates opening to standard ticket holders. You can choose this option when booking your tickets. With your priority ticket you will need to access the Gardens through the gate at King's Stables road.

When do gates open?

Gates will be open for priority entry ticket holders by 6.15pm and for standard ticket holders by 7.00pm. We encourage you to arrive in plenty of time as we expect queues.

Give yourself the best chance at picking your preferred spot in the Gardens! The Floral Clock entrance often has the longest queues, so don’t forget that you can also enter via the other entrances on King’s Stables Road or the West End of Princes Street. With priority access ticket you will need to enter via King's Stables road.

Is there an area for wheelchair users or those with mobility requirements?

There will be a designated area for wheelchair users or those with other mobility requirements, but this will have a limited capacity and will be filled on a first come first served basis. This is located in the Gardens on the bottom path, which can be accessed with a Princes Street Gardens general admission ticket. Read about access at the event here.

Are there concession tickets available for children?

Children under 5 are free but ticketed. Tickets for under 5s can be collected from The Hub. Standard price tickets are available for children over that age.

Can I take food and drink into Princes Street Gardens?

You are very welcome to bring food and drink into the Gardens. A picnic is a great idea!

In the interest of public safety, we ask that you do not bring any glass bottles or containers, or tables which can be tripped over into the event.

Are there any items I cannot take with me to the event? Can I bring a chair?

There are a few items that are not allowed at the event for health and safety reasons:

  • aerosols over 250ml
  • animals (except registered guide dogs)
  • flares and fireworks
  • illegal substances, herbal / legal highs or nitrous oxide
  • offensive weapons (such as knives with long blades)
  • laser pens
  • megaphones, air horns
  • BBQs
  • drones

You can bring a small chair if necessary, but we would encourage people not to for the sake of your fellow fireworks-goers. Please don't bring a table. We'd like everyone to be able to see and for everyone to be safe.

With thanks to our supporters
