A supremely accomplished Wagnerian, US soprano Christine Goerke has stunned audiences as Brünnhilde in the International Festival’s on-going Ring cycle. She returns to the role in the culminating Götterdämmerung in the Usher Hall on 25 August.

With an opulent, thrillingly powerful voice of breathtaking intensity, she also sings with enormous control and subtlety. This intimate recital offers the rare opportunity to experience Goerke’s remarkable vocal skills up close, in a personal selection of her favourite songs.

She is joined by Edinburgh-born Malcolm Martineau, in the richly coloured Romanticism of works by Tchaikovsky, Brahms and Duparc.

This concert will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3.
