The Glass Menagerie on the West End

John Tiffany’s acclaimed revival of his Broadway hit The Glass Menagerie, which stole a few thousand hearts at the International Festival this summer, will open on London’s West End in January.

Cherry Jones reprises her Tony Award-nominated Broadway role as Amanda Wingfield with fellow International Festival cast members Michael Esper (Tom) and Kate O’Flynn (Laura). Brian J. Smith will reprise his Tony Award-nominated Broadway role as the Gentleman Caller.

Jones received accolades for her appearance as matriarch Amanda Wingfield at the International Festival season, with The Herald calling her “exquisite,” The Times, “exceptional” and The Guardian, “the Amanda of our dreams.

The Glass Menagerie is another example of great work from the International Festival transferring to London and beyond. Simon McBurney’s The Encounter went to the Barbican following its premiere in Edinburgh and is now performing to rave reviews in New York.

The Glass Menagerie will play at the Duke of York’s Theatre from 26 January - 29 April 2017.
