Glass Menagerie Cast Announcement
Today we’re happy to announce the full cast for the revival of John Tiffany’s Broadway triumph, The Glass Menagerie.
Tony award-winning actor Cherry Jones is joined by Michael Esper, Kate O’Flynn and Seth Numrich, in the Broadway hit production directed by John Tiffany. Multiple Tony and Emmy Award winner Cherry Jones will reprise the role of matriarch Amanda Wingfield and will be joined by Michael Esper as Tom, Kate O’Flynn as Laura, and Seth Numrich as the ‘Gentlemen Caller’, in a stellar cast.
American actor Cherry Jones is familiar to UK audiences for her acclaimed performance as President Taylor in television series 24 and film roles including Ocean’s Twelve, The Perfect Storm and Signs. Michael Esper has worked extensively on Broadway and was recently nominated for a 2016 Outer Critics Circle Award for his appearance in David Bowie and Enda Walsh’s musical Lazarus in New York. Award-winning British actor Kate O’Flynn and Broadway actor Seth Numrich complete the company.
The Glass Menagerie is Tennessee Williams’s poetic masterpiece, anchored by ageing southern belle Amanda Wingfield who hopes that her son Tom will fulfil her dreams of finding the perfect ‘gentleman caller’ for her shy and fragile daughter Laura. Originally staged by American Repertory Theatre in 2012 at their home in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the show transferred to Broadway in Autumn 2013 to huge critical acclaim, with Ben Brantley of the New York Times hailing the ‘glorious production.’ The International Festival’s revival of the show – its European premiere - opens at the King’s Theatre on Sunday 7 August 7.30pm, for a two week run.
