A unique opportunity for emerging photographers to get unparalleled access to the International Festival. Read on to learn how to apply.

Edinburgh International Festival is looking for an emerging photographer to join the Festival’s busy multi-media team during August. This is an opportunity to work with the International Festival’s in-house photographer on a part-time, contract basis. 

The in-house photography team enjoy unparalleled access to the International Festival, going behind the scenes and all over the city to capture the dynamic character and experience of the event. 

We are looking for a photographer who can capture images that communicate with energy the experience of the International Festival, through strong, sophisticated and impactful images. The successful candidate will work closely with the International Festival team to capture artists, rehearsals, audiences and events, creating a rich portfolio of images. 

The role is for an emerging photographer based or studying in Scotland, working on a part-time basis across the Festival period for a fee of £2500. 

The Festival photographers’ work will be used for publicity and marketing purposes as well as through online galleries on our website eif.co.uk and social media platforms. 

Our 2018 photography team captured artists and companies including Alan Cumming, The Jesus and Mary Chain, London Symphony Orchestra, Mogwai, Akram Khan, Nicola Benedetti, Sheku Kanneh-Mason and Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord, as well as backstage and front of house moments.

To be considered for the position, please send a cover letter and sample of your portfolio or a link to your work online to liz.wallace@eif.co.uk by 5pm Friday 14 June. Please include ‘Application: Emerging Photographer 2019’ in the subject line. 

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview in mid-June and should be available to attend and photograph an International Festival event in late June, which will serve as a practical assessment.
