Behind the scenes of The Divide rehearsals

Leading up to the cast announcement for the production of Alan Ayckbourn's epic new play The Divide, we came down to London to visit The Old Vic rehearsal space and see how preparations for the world premiere are going. We had a chat with director Annabel Bolton and the cast who shared their insights to the dystopian world you'll have an opportunity to explore at the International Festival this August.

"Obviously, with a title like The Divide, there is a lot of significant things that have happened in our society recently," said Annabel Bolton, "It is relevant in so many ways. You can make links and reflections to a lot of things that are going on now, but really it’s an extraordinary tale, it’s a great story."

Actor Werucha Opia adds, "I’ve never really read anything like this before. Society moved forward, but moved back at the same time, which plays with your head but it’s almost like a bit of the state of where society is at right now."

If you're hungry for more insights, make sure to watch our interview with playwright Alan Ayckbourn talking about his new play, and you can also take a look at some of the photos taken at one of the rehearsals to get to know the cast a bit better.
