Anoushka Shankar talks about Land of Gold

My whole life I’ve known about the festival, so to finally come and play there - I’m really excited

Writing Land of Gold predominantly in 2015, Anoushka Shankar could see her feelings about the refuge crisis coming out in the music and becoming the theme of the album: “we are all actually searching for the same land of gold.”

Talking about her upcoming performance at the International Festival, she humbly describes it as “musicians simply playing together and responding to each other whilst also having a big cinematic sound.”

Watch the video to find out what Anoushka Shankar sees as a land of gold and how she finds acoustic magic on stage.

Anoushka Shankar with support act Faiz Ali Faiz will be performing at the 2017 International Festival on 16 August at the Usher Hall, and you can book your tickets now.
