Cross Currents

Cross Currents is a professional exchange and development programme for Scottish practitioners alongside their international counterparts responding to a need for support and development opportunities for arts creatives. Created in partnership with University of Edinburgh, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Federation of Scottish Theatre and a number of key creative individuals, Cross Currents will provide time, space and an invigorating environment for sector leading creative producers and artists to refresh their current practice, and consider their future potential.

The Cross Currents cohort has been formed with a collaboration of local and international creatives, makers and producers from performative work across art forms.

Book a free space at one of the events open to all creatives, makers and producers using the drop-down menus below.

Wednesday 21 August, 10.00am - 12.00pm | The Hub, Castlehill, Edinburgh, EH1 2NE

Reneltta Arluk, Theatre Maker and Director of Indigenous Arts at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity in Canada will provide a provocation about rights of Indigenous cultural practice and story in the Arts and arts spaces at a Global Café that will then allow for debate and discussion between artists and producers from around the world to come together to share experiences and perspectives. The informal café style setting of this event, with table hosts leading discussions, should prove a fascinating exchange of insights from a range of Indigenous voices from across Canada and around the globe.

We will have lightning talks from speakers including Scottish Ballet’s first artist in residence, Zachary Eastwood-Bloom and an interactive ethereal installation from Bright Side Studios who have worked on immersive and interactive performance projects with Janis Claxton Dance and Grid Iron Theatre Company.

CI Labs are part of Creative Informatics, a research and development partnership across the University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh Napier University, Codebase and Creative Edinburgh, enabling creative practitioners and organisations to explore how data-driven technologies can enhance their work.
