Edinburgh International Festival Fringe Prize 2011 Winner Announced

Each year the Festival recognises emerging talent at the Fringe by awarding a company or artist the Edinburgh International Festival Fringe Prize. This prestigious prize celebrates and supports up-and-coming talent by giving the winner the opportunity to develop their ideas or devise a new work.

The winner of this year's Edinburgh International Festival Fringe Prize is The TEAM for their production Mission Drift. The TEAM (Theatre of the Emerging American Moment) is a theatre company based in New York City and they focus on producing work which celebrates the experience of living in America today.

Mission Drift takes the audience on a journey across the USA in search of the character of American capitalism. Told through atomic blasts, lizard ballet, and music that fuses Vegas glitz with Western ballads and Southern blues, it follows the story of an immortal Dutch couple, setting out west from Amsterdam to New Amsterdam to financially devastated modern-day Las Vegas.

The TEAM were thrilled with the award and are looking forward to developing a new work which Festival audiences will get the chance to preview next year.
