As the winner of the inaugural Edinburgh International Festival Award makes final preparations to appear at Festival 08, this year's winner is preparing to appear in the Fringe.

The Edinburgh International Festival Award takes the form of an invitation to a company appearing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this summer to present a work in progress as part of the Edinburgh International Festival Behind the Scenes programme in 2009.

EIF at Russian premiere of Król Roger

Festival director Jonathan Mills was in St.Petersburg this week to attend the Russian premiere of Król Roger and launch the Festival 08 programme.

Król Roger - which is performed at the Edinburgh Festival Theatre on Monday 25 August and Wednesday 27 August - premiered in St. Petersburg at the Mariinsky Theatre as part of Russia's world famous White Nights Festival.
