About the performance

Midori makes her Festival debut with a programme which juxtaposes two well known violin sonatas with two 20th century works. Bloch described his Second Violin Sonata, composed while he was in America, as portraying the world as it should be. Davidovsky is an Argentine- American composer whose Duo Capriccioso is a delightful dialogue between violin and piano.

‘a performance of such transcendent power and grace that the thrilled audience gave her that rare thing, a genuine, heartfelt standing ovation in the middle of a recital.' The Globe and Mail

Broadcast by BBC Radio 3 on Tuesday 7 September 1.00pm
