Der Fliegende Holländer

Der Fliegende Holländer

About the Performance

A man is condemned to sail the seas until the day of judgement unless he finds the redeeming power of love. The sea itself is so integral to the music that it almost becomes a character in the story, which is based on Coleridge's The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Wagner developed many of his ideas, both musical and dramatic, in writing this opera.

Please note there is no interval in this concert.
