Synopsis
Three iconic 20th century texts, the theatrical genius of Heiner Goebbels and the virtuosic vocal talents of the Hilliard Ensemble, specialists in both medieval and contemporary music.

T.S. Eliot's The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, Maurice Blanchot's The Madness of the Day and Samuel Beckett's Worstward Ho are the basis for an exploration of the meaning of ‘I' in a world where there are no clearly defined roles or characters.

Festival 08 is proud to present the world premiere of the latest work from Edinburgh favourite Heiner Goebbels. From his first visit with Black On White, through the marvellous Hashirigaki and Eislermaterial to the wonderful Eraritjaritjaka, musician and theatre maker Heiner Goebbels has thrilled Festival audiences time and again. His work is by turns gripping, moving, compelling and surreal. Not to be missed.
Reviews

‘This is trademark Goebbels: mixing music and text, casting his stage and figures in riveting games of light, weaving uncategorisable stage magic.'

- Financial Times on Eraritjaritjaka

‘pure, unadulterated delight... Hashirigaki is an unclassifiable, unforgettable experience - the stuff that masterpieces are made of.'

- The Guardian
