About the Performance
Venezuelan firebrand Gustavo Dudamel was an instant hit at Festival 07 and returns this year at the helm of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, of which he is Music Director.

Copland's beloved Appalachian Spring evokes an America of innocence and pioneering spirit, of open plains and mountainous wilderness. In La Valse Ravel pays gentle homage to the sophisticated interior world of formal balls and dances in his elegant deconstruction of the waltz itself. Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique is fantastic in every way. Conceived on a grand scale and imbued with a true sense of the romantic spirit, it is a musical journey of enormous historical and cultural significance.
