Venue Access

There is information below about access to some of the venues regularly used by the Festival, if you require further information please call Hub Tickets on 0131 473 2089. Please note: if you require the use of the loop or Sennheiser systems please check with the box office when booking. There are some areas in the theatres where the signal is not available. Box office staff will ensure that you are seated in the correct area to receive the best signal.

Assistance animals are welcome in all of our venues.

The Queen's Hall
85 - 89 Clerk Street

  • Single yellow line parking on side streets.
  • Ramped access to double door with automatic door opener.
  • Wheelchair spaces on the ground floor at the centre and sides of the Hall. The gallery is accessible by stairs only.
  • Induction loop in stalls and Sennheiser infra-red system is available throughout the auditorium.
  • Receivers for use both with and without a hearing aid are available from the cloakroom.
  • There is a unisex accessible toilet on the ground floor with level access and handrails.
  • Cafe/bar on ground floor.

 
Festival Theatre, Edinburgh
13 - 29 Nicolson Street

  • Single yellow lines and Pay and Display spaces on side streets.
  • There is a pavement ramp, or six steps with one handrail, at the front of theatre. 
  • Level access is available at a side entrance. 
  • There is lift access to all levels of the theatre which has a voice announcement.
  • Wheelchair spaces in stalls on floor 1.
  • Sennheiser infra-red system is available in all areas of the auditorium. Receivers for use either with or without a hearing aid are available, headsets can be collected from the cloakroom on the mezzanine. 
  • Accessible toilets on levels 1 and 2 of the theatre. 
  • Cafe/bar on ground floor with lift access to other bars. 
  • There is Braille and tactile signage throughout the building.

  
King's Theatre
2 Leven Street

  • Single yellow line parking on Tarvit Street approximately 30 metres away and in the side streets opposite the theatre. 
  • Level access through the Box Office with level access to the foyer. Platform lift to the stalls
  • Wheelchair spaces in the stalls.
  • Sennheiser infra-red system, receivers for use with or without a hearing aid can be collected from staff in the main foyer. 
  • Accessible toilet on stalls level. 
  • Bars only accessible by stairs, please ask staff for refreshments before the performance to have them brought to you.  

The Edinburgh Playhouse
18 - 22 Greenside Place

  • Pay and Display on Picardy Place and Union Place, 24hr NCP car park beneath the Omni Centre.  
  • Level access at the front doors to circle level which is on the ground floor.
  • Wheelchair spaces on circle level.
  • Steep stairs only to balcony and stalls levels.
  • Sennheiser infra-red system, receivers for use with or without a hearing aid available from staff. 
  • Accessible toilet on circle level, second disabled toilet down stairs at mezzanine level.
  • Bar and refreshment kiosk on ground level. 

  
Royal Lyceum Theatre
Grindlay Street

  • Limited number of disabled badge spaces on Grindlay Street and Cambridge Street. NCP car park on Castle Terrace.
  • Level access from Grindlay Street.
  • Lift to all levels of the theatre and to all bars and the restaurant. 
  • Wheelchair spaces are available in the rear stalls which have been levelled and raised. Seats at some row ends incorporate removable arm rests for easy transferral. A selection of specially designed supports and foot rests are available.
  • Induction loop system and hearing enhancement system available from information and shop area. Receivers available for use with and without a hearing aid.
  • Accessible toilet on the ground floor. 

 
The Usher Hall
Lothian Road

  • Limited number of disabled badge spaces on Grindlay Street and Cambridge Street. NCP car park on Castle Terrace. 
  • Level access from Grindlay Street.
  • Lift access to all levels. 
  • Wheelchair spaces in the stalls and the grand circle.
  • Accessible toilets at stalls and grand circle levels. 
  • Stalls cafe/bar fully accessible, upper circle bar accessible by lift.

The Hub, Edinburgh's Festival Centre
Castlehill, Royal Mile

  • Please contact The Hub on 0131 473 2089 for advice about parking during the Tattoo (3-25 August)
  • Level, ramped or lift access to all public areas.
  • Wheelchair spaces in the main hall.
  • Induction loop in Hub Tickets and the Main Hall.
  • Accessible toilet on ground floor and another via stair lift.
  • Bar and cafe on ground floor.
  • Lift with voice announcement and Braille buttons.

Ross Theatre and Princes Street Gardens

  • Level access to the Gardens and Ross Theatre approximately 200 metres from the King's Stables Road entrance. You can access the Gardens at 6.30pm if you have a priority entry ticket, or at 7.00pm with a standard ticket
  • Wheelchair spaces available in the Ross Theatre and Princes Street Gardens, please tell the box office if you would like to use either of these areas when you book your tickets.
  • Accessible toilets located in the gardens and behind the Ross Theatre.
  • Please note that the gardens become very crowded and combined with the noisy fireworks may make this event unsuitable for assistance animals.

National Museum of Scotland

  • Level entrance to the museum via the main entrance to the Entrance Hall on Chambers Street and the Tower entrance at the corner of Chambers Street
  • Lifts are available to all floors
  • Induction loop available at the Museum Information Desk and in the Auditorium and Dunfermline Room lecture theatre
  • Adapted toilets are available. many have baby changing units and changing benches
  • Wheelchairs are available for loan at no charge. Ask at the Information Desk on arrival
  • There is a variety of seating throughout the museum
