A Touch Tour is an opportunity for people with a visual impairment to visit a set and engage with the props, set and costumes before attending a performance. After the Touch Tour there is also the opportunity to listen to the Talking Programme, the times for the Talking Programme are included below.
Talking Programme is an extended Audio Description service for foreign language theatre, beginning with comprehensive programme notes on the production, before leading into an audio description of the performance, including set description and supplementary notes on the progress of the plot. There will also be some commentary throughout the performance.
Audio description is a live commentary for people with a visual impairment that paints a picture of the action taking place during the performance. The description is delivered through a headset and begins before the production. The Audio Describer sets the scene with an overall description of the set and continues throughout the play during natural breaks in the dialogue. They will describe the action, scenery, facial expressions and costumes.
The headsets can be collected from a Duty Manager before the performance.
Touch Tours and audio description will be available at performances at Festival 2012. We will update this page with listings when the full programme is launched.
Assistance animals are always welcome and theatre staff will be pleased to look after them during the performance if you prefer. Water bowls are available.
